There is widespread disregard for speed limits across Bend. ABNA residents have voiced significant concerns over the dangerous, scofflaw behavior on NW Washington, Awbrey Rd, Summit Rd, Archie Briggs Rd and several residential streets that are used as shortcuts across the Butte. We are working with the City Streets and Maintenance Dept., the City Planning Dept, and Bend City Police Department to address these concerns. To date, we have achieved more police patrols, deployment of traffic monitors, new signage, new road striping and restrictions on parking in dangerous spots BUT the problem persists. We are investigating successful solutions in other cities and proposing new approaches to the City - in road design and redevelopment as well as the adoption of traffic calming technology.
