After a transitional year in hiatus, the Cascade Cycling Classic is making a comeback in 2019 with a new promoter and new ownership.

The Cascade Cycling Classic Youth Foundation — a newly-formed 501(c)(3) non-profit focused on highlighting the positive role cycling can play in childhood development — has taken an ownership stake in the 39th Edition of the race, to be held May 29th-June 2nd, 2019. Bart Bowen, multi-time National Road Champion and owner of Bend’s Bowen Sports Performance, is the race director and promoter this year, bringing decades of experience in both the regional and international racing scene.
Importantly, this year’s Classic will feature a focus on both grassroots community engagement and youth participation. A key part of these goals is wrapped up in the final day of racing — the grand final stage for all categories around Bend’s Northwest side, with a demanding finish at the top of Summit Drive in the Awbrey Butte Neighborhood. This circuit course has been the crown jewel of the CCC for many years, but this year’s approach takes an interesting twist by directing racers straight across Mt. Washington Drive after the infamous climb up Archie Briggs Drive, then continuing the climb up to the top of Awbrey Butte via twisting neighborhood streets. It is an event that promises to deliver awe-inspiring, spectator-friendly racing action.
What’s more, this year’s edition will also feature a short, high speed, technical time trial exposition directly after racing concludes. Only the top finishers in both the men’s and women’s professional categories of the stage race will participate, guaranteeing extra motivation for stage race placings and the cream of the crop for final racing talent. This high-payout exposition race will guarantee some incredible racing action in tight quarters among the Awbrey Butte neighborhood, utilizing the same finish line as the preceding circuit race and offering an entirely unique showcase event to finish off the weekend in style, after the traditional podium presentations for the stage race wrap up.
